Disclosure: AskSoma publishes this guide and ranks its own app first. The ranking reflects our stated criteria below; every competitor fact is taken from its Google Play listing (checked 1 Oct 2026).

Quick picks
  • Best overall: AskSoma, an AI astrologer you can chat or talk with by voice, read from your Kundli, with no per-minute clock.
  • Best free AI chat to try: Om.AI, with a free first question and more free questions through daily streaks.
  • Best for a human astrologer: Astrotalk, the largest install base here, with the first chat or call session free.
  • Cheapest first human session: InstaAstro, where the first chat or call costs ₹1.
  • Best for regional languages (human): Anytime Astro, with consultations in 24 languages.

"First chat free" is the start of the bill, not the bill

Search for a free astrology chat app on an Indian Android phone and the results are almost all the same kind of app: a marketplace that connects you to a human astrologer, gives you a free (or ₹1) first session, and then asks you to recharge a wallet that is debited every minute you keep talking. That works well for one focused question. It gets expensive when "when will I get a job?" turns into "and the transfer?" and "should I wait until after Diwali?"

A second group of apps has grown alongside the marketplaces: AI astrologers that read your birth chart and answer in a chat window, usually for a flat plan or a set number of free questions. They will not replace a trusted family pandit, but they change the economics of follow-up questions. This guide ranks eight Android chat apps across both groups, explains exactly what each "free" offer covers according to its own Play listing, and shows where the meter starts.

How we ranked these astrology chat apps

This is a desk review of public Google Play listings, checked on 1 October 2026, weighed against six criteria. We did not score anything a listing does not state.

  1. Answers from your own chart. Does the chat read your Kundli (dashas, transits, divisional charts), or is it a general horoscope with a chat box?
  2. A price you can predict. Does the listing say whether you pay per minute from a wallet or by flat plan, and what happens after the free start?
  3. What the free start really includes. A free first session, a ₹1 session, a free question, or a free tier, exactly as each listing describes it.
  4. Room for follow-up questions. Can you keep asking without a running meter?
  5. Language support stated on the listing. Hindi and regional languages count only when the listing names them.
  6. Play signals. Average rating, whether the app contains ads, and how recently it was updated.

AskSoma ranks first on criteria 1, 2 and 4. The human marketplaces rank well on 3 and 6 and are the right choice if you want a person rather than software.

Per-minute wallet vs flat AI chat: how the money works

Per-minute wallets (Astrotalk, InstaAstro, Anytime Astro, Astroyogi, Bodhi, GaneshaSpeaks) all work the same way according to their listings. You top up a balance inside the app, pick an astrologer whose profile shows their rate, and the balance is debited while the chat or call is open. Your total cost is the rate multiplied by the minutes, so the person who types slowly or asks three follow-ups pays more than the person with one crisp question. Most of these listings show no Google Play "in-app purchases" badge, so do not use that badge alone to judge whether an app charges you.

Flat AI chat (AskSoma, Om.AI) charges for access instead of time. AskSoma's listing says "no per-minute clock" and offers a free tier, then Pro billed through Google Play. Om.AI gives a free first question, more free questions through daily streaks, and a Premium plan for unlimited chat. The trade-off is that you are talking to software that reads your chart, not to a person.

A simple rule of thumb

None of the marketplace listings says how long the free session lasts, so watch the timer or balance before you type. If you have one big question and want a human view, use the free first session and stop when the free part ends. If you expect to keep asking, about timing, a match, a job offer, or a muhurat, a flat plan usually makes the cost easier to predict.

How we checked the listings (October 2026)

The ranking below covers Android apps popular in India. Readers in the US often ask how the Western apps compare for chat, so this table adds them, using their US App Store listings. Google Play prices can differ.

  • What we checked: each app's current US App Store listing on 2 October 2026: the features it describes, the in-app prices it shows, what its free tier includes, and whether people or AI write the readings. For AskSoma we used our own pricing page.
  • What we did not do: buy every subscription, score prediction accuracy (none of these apps has published an independent accuracy test), or rank by star ratings, app reviews or Reddit discussions. Read recent reviews and Reddit threads for that side.
  • Prices: US App Store prices as listed, before tax. Android and web prices can differ and listings change, so check before you subscribe.
  • Disclosure: AskSoma publishes this page and makes the AskSoma app.

Where AskSoma fits for US readers: it reads your Western chart first (Sun, Moon and Rising), with the sidereal chart as a second layer, so Western & sidereal sit side by side, and you chat with an AI astrologer about your own chart. Soma is AI, not a human astrologer, and we make AskSoma.

The 8 best astrology chat apps for Android in 2026

1

AskSoma

AI astrologer chat and live voice from your Kundli, with no per-minute clock

AskSoma takes the opposite approach to the wallet apps below. Instead of matching you with a person and starting a meter, it builds your Vedic birth chart (Kundli) with Swiss Ephemeris, including divisional charts, and then lets you chat or hold a live voice conversation with an AI astrologer grounded in that chart. You can ask the follow-up you forgot, or come back at midnight with a new worry, and the answer is still read from your own placements rather than a generic sun-sign paragraph.

The Play listing describes dated timing windows with confidence levels, and Pro adds a Prediction Ledger that tracks which windows hit and which missed. It covers 22 insight areas from career and wealth to remedies and numerology, plus Cosmic Contacts for kundli matching, a Muhurat finder and birth-time rectification. Conversations run in 21+ languages with Hindi first, and the same account also works on WhatsApp and Telegram. The free tier includes your Kundli, the Overview and About You readings, free daily messages and 5 voice minutes. The listing states plainly that there is "no per-minute clock".

  • No ads on the Play listing; flat pricing instead of a per-minute wallet

Cons

  • Newer and smaller than the marketplaces (10K+ installs)
  • No live human astrologers listed
  • Western astrology is lighter than its Vedic depth

Pricing: Free tier available. Pro: from ~$0.27/day · $14.99/mo · 6 months $59.99 · day pass from $2 · India ₹14/day.

Best for: People who want to keep asking questions about their own chart, in Hindi or another Indian language, for a known price.

Astrotalk

The biggest human-astrologer chat marketplace on Google Play

If the phrase "talk to astrologer" is what brought you here, Astrotalk is the name most people mean. Its Play listing shows 100M+ installs, the largest base of any app in this guide, and a 4.6 average rating. You can chat or call with astrologers, join live sessions, generate a free Kundli and Kundli Milan match, and read daily to yearly horoscopes. The listing says it has 1600+ astrologers and states that it does not use software or computer-generated predictions.

The offer that drives most searches is clear on the listing: your first chat or call session is free. After that, you recharge a wallet and pay per minute, at a rate that depends on the astrologer. The listing does not state how long the free session lasts. The app also runs AstroMall, a shop for remedies, alongside the consultations.

On Google Play: Rating 4.6 (average) · 100M+ installs · Contains ads: No · In-app purchases: No · Last updated: 30 Sep 2026 · View Play listingChecked on Google Play, 1 Oct 2026

3

Om.AI

An AI astrology chat with a free first question and streak rewards

Om.AI is the closest AI rival to AskSoma on this list and carries the highest Play rating here, 4.8. Its chat answers from your planetary positions, dashas and transits, and the free Kundli is unusually detailed for a free tier: D1 and D9 charts, Vimshottari Dasha, Ashtakavarga, Shadbala and AI yoga detection. It adds Ashtakoot Gun Milan with Manglik and Nadi dosha analysis, daily rashifal and a live Panchang.

The free offer works differently from the marketplaces. Your first question is free, and the listing says daily streaks earn more free questions; Premium unlocks unlimited chat, best-hours timing, a month-ahead forecast, dasha alerts and daily remedies. The app is available in English and Hindi, and the listing says the AI replies in whatever language you write in.

On Google Play: Rating 4.8 (average) · 50K+ installs · Contains ads: No · In-app purchases: Yes · Last updated: 13 Aug 2026 · View Play listingChecked on Google Play, 1 Oct 2026

4

InstaAstro

A ₹1 first session with astrologers, tarot readers and numerologists

InstaAstro has 10M+ installs and a 4.7 rating, and its pitch is breadth of readers rather than one style of astrology. The listing describes 2000+ experts, including verified astrologers, tarot readers, numerologists and palmists, available by chat, call and live session. Free tools include Kundli making, Kundli Milan, daily to yearly horoscopes, Hindu and Jain Panchang, and Vastu and dosha guidance.

Instead of a free first chat, InstaAstro charges ₹1 for the first chat or call. After that, you recharge a wallet and per-minute charges apply. The listing describes the app as available in Hindi and English.

It also offers free Kundali and Kundali matching, horoscopes, a Panchang, a muhurat calculator, Choghadiya and Rahu Kaal.

New users get a free first chat. After that, the model is a wallet recharge with per-minute billing. The listing states that all consultations are with real human astrologers and that it uses no AI predictions, which is a clear choice for people who want a person rather than software.

Bodhi

Low entry price and astrologers you can choose by region and language

Bodhi's Play name says "Astrology & Tarot Chat", but the listing describes a marketplace of people rather than an AI: astrologers, tarot readers, palmists, numerologists and Vastu consultants by call and chat. The listing says every astrologer goes through 4 levels of verification, and you can choose by region and language, with Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Bengali and Marathi astrologers named.

It is also the only marketplace here that prints a price on its listing: consultations from Rs. 9 onwards, with a signup credit for your first call. Free features include horoscopes with a luck meter, Gun Milan matchmaking and daily personalised remedies. Its last Play update was 13 March 2026, older than every other app ranked here.

Android checklist before you start a chat

Spend two minutes on the Play listing before you share your birth details or top up a wallet.

  1. Play rating. Look at the average, then read a few recent reviews. Every app ranked here sits between 4.3 and 4.8.
  2. Ads. The "Contains ads" label tells you whether readings will be interrupted. None of the eight ranked apps shows it; AstroSage Kundli, in the also-considered list, does.
  3. How you pay. Per-minute wallet or flat subscription? The first suits one-off questions, the second suits regular use. Check whether the free start is a whole session, a single question or a daily allowance.
  4. Hindi and regional languages. Trust what the listing names. AskSoma, Om.AI, InstaAstro, Anytime Astro and Bodhi state language support; Astroyogi and Melooha do not on Play.
  5. Last updated. Apps updated in the last few weeks are actively maintained. Bodhi's last update (13 Mar 2026) is the oldest in this list.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which astrology app gives the first chat free?

Several Android apps describe a free or near-free first session on their Google Play listings. Astrotalk says the first chat or call session is free, Astroyogi and Anytime Astro offer a free first chat (Anytime Astro limits it to new users), InstaAstro charges ₹1 for the first chat or call, and Bodhi gives a signup credit for the first call. On the AI side, Om.AI makes the first question free and AskSoma has a free tier with free daily messages. None of the marketplace listings say how many minutes the free session lasts, so check the timer inside the app before you start.

What happens after the free first chat on Astrotalk, InstaAstro or Astroyogi?

Their Play listings describe the same model: you add money to an in-app wallet and the chat or call is charged per minute. The rate depends on which astrologer you choose and is shown on their profile. If you plan to ask several follow-up questions, work out the cost per minute before you start, because a long conversation keeps the meter running.

Is an AI astrology chat app the same as talking to an astrologer?

No. Marketplaces such as Astrotalk and Anytime Astro connect you to a human astrologer, and both listings stress that their consultations are with real people rather than computer-generated predictions. AI apps such as AskSoma, Om.AI and Melooha answer from your birth chart using software, usually for a flat plan instead of per-minute billing. Pick a human if you want a personal consultation; pick AI if you want to ask many questions at any hour without a running meter.

Which astrology chat app works in Hindi?

AskSoma lists 21+ languages with Hindi first. Om.AI is available in English and Hindi and says its AI replies in the language you write in. InstaAstro describes its app as being in Hindi and English, Anytime Astro lists consultations in 24 languages including Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, and Bodhi says it has Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Bengali and Marathi astrologers. Astroyogi and Melooha do not state languages on their Play listings.

How much does an astrology chat cost per minute in India?

Most marketplace listings do not print a rate because each astrologer sets their own. Bodhi is the exception on this list: its listing mentions consultations from Rs. 9 onwards. For a flat alternative, AskSoma Pro starts at about ₹14 a day in India with no per-minute clock, and Om.AI sells a Premium plan that unlocks unlimited chat.

Can I chat with an astrologer free without recharging a wallet?

With the human marketplaces, the free or ₹1 first session is the only part that does not draw on a wallet, according to their listings. AI apps are the way to keep chatting without a recharge: AskSoma gives free daily messages and 5 voice minutes on its free tier, and Om.AI gives a free first question plus more free questions through daily streaks.

Does AskSoma have live human astrologers?

No live human astrologers are listed for AskSoma. It is an AI astrologer that you can chat with or talk to by live voice, and its answers are grounded in your own Vedic chart. If talking to a person matters most to you, Astrotalk, Anytime Astro or InstaAstro are better fits.

How do I pick a safe astrology chat app on Android?

Open the Play listing and check the average rating, the last-updated date and the Data safety section. Note whether the app contains ads and whether it bills per minute or by plan. Before paying for a remedy or a long session, ask what it will cost in total, and be wary of anyone who uses fear to push a purchase.

The Verdict

The "first chat free" apps do what they say: Astrotalk, Astroyogi and Anytime Astro open with a free session, InstaAstro with a ₹1 session and Bodhi with a signup credit. They are the right place to start if you want a human astrologer. But the free part is an introduction to a per-minute wallet, and none of those listings says how long it lasts.

AskSoma ranks first for anyone who wants to keep talking. It reads a Swiss Ephemeris Kundli, answers by chat or live voice in 21+ languages with Hindi first, gives dated timing windows with confidence levels, and charges a flat price with no per-minute clock. It is newer and smaller than the marketplaces and has no human astrologers, so if a person on the line matters most, start with Astrotalk's free session. If you want a second AI to compare, Om.AI's free first question is the easiest way in.
