The one feature that sets this page apart: a Vedic/Western label toggle. Both modes compute the IDENTICAL sidereal (Lahiri ayanamsa) chart — the toggle only changes which vocabulary describes it. "Vedic mode" keeps the sidereal sign and house names you'd see in a traditional Jyotish reading; "Western mode" relabels the same computed positions with more familiar terminology for someone coming from tropical Sun-sign astrology. What this toggle explicitly does NOT do is recalculate the chart with tropical positions — it is a translation layer over one accurate sidereal computation, never a second, different chart.

That distinction matters because it is the most common point of confusion between the two astrological systems: a Western tropical chart and a Vedic sidereal chart for the SAME birth moment genuinely disagree on which sign a planet occupies, by roughly 24 degrees (the current precession offset, the ayanamsa). This tool computes the sidereal chart only, in two label sets — it does not attempt to show you the tropical chart as well. If you specifically want tropical positions, this is not that tool, and we'd rather say so than blur the two together under one "Western mode" label.

What the Vedic/Western toggle changes — and what it does not

Does NOT change: this is not tropical astrology

Western mode is a LABEL change on a sidereal chart — it is not the tropical chart a Western astrologer's software would compute for the same birth data. The two genuinely differ by about 24° (the ayanamsa); this tool shows only the sidereal figure, twice-labeled.

Same chart, two labels — one worked example

1. Take a Moon at sidereal 8° Vrishchika (Scorpio). In Vedic mode, the tool reports: "Moon in Vrishchika (Scorpio), 8th sign from Lagna" — traditional Jyotish framing.
2. Flip to Western mode. The tool reports the SAME 8° Scorpio position — same degree, same sign — but with Western-style house and placement phrasing layered on top for readability. No recomputation happens; only the label set changes.
3. Now compare to what a tropical (Western) astrology calculator would actually show for the identical birth moment: because tropical measures from the equinox rather than the fixed stars, a tropical calculator would very likely place the Moon in a DIFFERENT sign — commonly one sign later, roughly 24° ahead, due to the precession offset. That tropical chart is not something this tool produces in either mode; both toggle positions here stay sidereal.

"Western mode" on this page means "familiar words for the sidereal chart," not "the tropical chart." Knowing that distinction before you read the output prevents the single most common confusion in comparing Vedic and Western astrology.

What this tool can NOT tell you

• This page renders the D1 (main birth chart) only. For divisional charts (Navamsa, Dashamsha, and the rest) and the full Dasha timeline, use the Kundli Calculator — this tool is intentionally the lighter, single-chart entry point.
• The Western/Vedic toggle relabels a sidereal chart; it does not compute a genuine tropical chart. If you specifically want tropical (Western) astrology positions for comparison, you will need a tool built for that system — this one is Vedic sidereal throughout, by design.
• Accuracy depends entirely on the birth time you enter. Sign and Ascendant can shift near a boundary if the time is off by even a few minutes — if you are unsure of your exact birth time, treat the reading as provisional and consider the Birth Time Finder first.
• A single D1 chart tells you placement, not timing. Questions like "when will X happen" need the Dasha timeline and transits, which live on the fuller Kundli Calculator and Dasha Calculator, not on this single-chart view.
