The morning you first roll up the shutter is the shop's own janma — the moment tradition reads as its birth chart.
shop opening muhurat, dukan kholne ka shubh muhurat, दुकान खोलने का मुहूर्त, auspicious date to open a shop, shop opening muhurat 2026, shubh muhurat for shop inauguration, dukan udghatan muhurat, best day to open a store astrology, showroom opening muhurat, dhanteras shop opening
Ask any third-generation trading family and they will tell you: the shop has a birthday. The morning the shutter first rises is remembered, celebrated, and — in the Vedic frame — read as the establishment's own natal moment, its Sthapana. Everything that follows, from the bohni (first sale) to the framed note above the counter, flows from treating that opening as a birth rather than a logistics event. This finder exists to place that birth under a clean sky.
Retail timing has its own accents within general muhurat practice. Venus matters more here than for an office or a factory, because a shop must please walk-in strangers — which is why Friday earns extra weight for showrooms and boutiques. The Tithi ledger matters too: waxing 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 10th, 11th and 13th lunar days carry increase, while the Rikta trio (4th, 9th, 14th) and the new-moon day are left alone. And the trading calendar contributes its two famous fixtures — Dhanteras and Akshaya Tritiya — days whole bazaars choose for openings, with real strengths and real crowds.
We also keep the layers honest. Muhurat answers WHEN; it does not answer WHERE the cash counter should face (that is Vastu), WHAT stock to carry, or WHETHER the location has footfall. This page times your opening and tells you why each window qualifies. The commercial questions remain gloriously, entirely yours.
The lunar day sets the momentum of an opening. Retail tradition reads the waxing fortnight generously and treats a few days as off-limits.
The tool's job was not to crown Dhanteras — it was to convert "everyone opens on Dhanteras" into an exact usable window, and to prove a private alternative existed. Options, with reasons, beat folklore applied blindly.

Dhanteras and Akshaya Tritiya are the two calendar days Indian trading communities have favoured for centuries — Dhanteras for anything touching wealth and inventory, Akshaya Tritiya for beginnings meant to be "undiminishing." They are genuinely strong, but they are also crowded and fixed: if Dhanteras falls months from your lease start, waiting for it costs real rent. A clean Nakshatra-Tithi window in your own month, opened outside Rahu Kaal, is classically legitimate and commercially saner.
The bohni — the first cash transaction — is retail folklore with a real psychological core: it sets the emotional tone of the day and, by tradition, of the shop. Many owners arrange a well-wisher as the first customer and keep that first note uncirculated. Astrologically, what matters is that the doors opened inside the muhurat; the bohni is a warm custom layered on top. Enjoy it, but do not panic if the first walk-in takes an hour.
That question belongs to Vastu rather than muhurat, and the two are separate layers — this tool times the opening; it does not audit the floor plan. Common Vastu convention places the cash drawer opening north, the direction of Kubera, with the seller facing north or east. If shop Vastu matters to you, treat it as its own project. A good opening time does not fix a layout problem, and a perfect layout does not need a bad opening.
It cannot, and we would rather lose the sale than pretend. Location, rent-to-revenue ratio, stock selection, and service decide whether a shop thrives — the muhurat only ensures the beginning itself carries no avoidable affliction. Think of it as the difference between a blessed doorway and a busy street: you want both, but only one of them brings customers. Do the commercial homework first; then let this tool pick the morning.
