The per-minute model, though, prices your hesitation. A fifteen-minute consultation at ₹18–29 a minute is roughly ₹270–435. That is fine once. The difficulty is that the questions worth asking an astrologer are rarely resolved in one sitting — you think of the real question on the drive home — and every follow-up restarts the meter. Users learn to type fast and stop exploring, which is exactly the opposite of what a birth chart rewards.

The same money, counted differently

Against ₹18–29/min that is the cost of roughly one twenty-five to forty-minute consultation — after which the meter simply does not exist. There is no per-question decision to make, which changes what people ask: the third and fourth questions, the ones that get specific, are where a chart reading actually becomes useful.

We would rather be judged on whether the answers are worth returning to than on how many minutes we can bill for one conversation. If a subscription sits unused for a month, that is a signal we should act on, not revenue we should protect.

Where a 4,600-astrologer marketplace genuinely wins

Breadth. If you want a specific parampara, a particular regional tradition, a practitioner who reads Prashna or Nadi in a style you grew up with, a marketplace of thousands can find them and we cannot — we are one voice, with one method, and that method is Parashari with a stated ayanamsa. What is free is the almanac. What is metered is the conversation — the astrologer chat is per-minute, advertised from roughly ₹18–29/min. That is a completely standard structure and there is nothing underhand about it, but the two halves are worth separating before you compare prices, because almost every product in this category gives the almanac away. Panchang is a calculation, and calculations are cheap. Attention is not.

One thing they do that we deliberately do not

KundliChat offers palm reading. AskSoma does not, and this is a decision rather than a gap. Our entire method rests on computing planetary positions from a birth moment and reading them against classical rules — every claim traces to an ephemeris value we can show you. Palmistry is a different discipline with a different evidentiary basis, and bolting it on would let us produce confident output with nothing computable underneath.

Both show choghadiya; they answer different questions

Choghadiya divides the day into eight day-parts and eight night-parts, each carrying a quality — Amrit, Shubh, Labh are favourable, Rog, Kaal, Udveg less so. Nearly everyone in this category displays them, computed from local sunrise and sunset, and both products get the arithmetic right.

The difference is what happens next. A table tells you Amrit runs 10:12–11:48 today.
