AstroKaya is two products wearing one name. The Android listing describes a Kundli app that connects you to an expert in Vedic astrology, Western zodiac or Tarot. The iOS listing describes something different: "AstroKaya — Genuine Gemstones & Rudraksha Store", an online shop for authentic gemstones and Rudraksha beads. Both are AstroKaya.

That matters more than it might sound, because in Jyotish the gemstone is a remedy — and a remedy is a recommendation the reader is asked to trust. When the same party both diagnoses the problem and sells the stone, the incentive runs one way. We are not accusing AstroKaya of anything; plenty of reputable astrologers have sold gemstones for centuries. We are saying the structure is worth knowing about before you act on a recommendation.

Why AskSoma sells nothing you might be told to buy

AskSoma sells one thing: a subscription. No gemstones, no yantras, no puja bookings, no affiliate links to any of them. When our engine declines to recommend a gemstone — and it declines often, because prescribing a stone for a functionally malefic planet is a real error with real cost — nothing about that decision is influenced by a basket.

Our remedy logic is also deliberately conservative in a way a shop cannot afford to be. The engine checks each planet's functional nature for your specific ascendant before it will suggest strengthening it, and for many charts the honest answer is a behavioural remedy or none at all. That answer is worth exactly ₹0 to a gemstone business, which is roughly the point.

What a wrongly prescribed gemstone actually costs

Gemstone remedies are not placebo-priced. A certified blue sapphire — Neelam, the stone for Saturn — runs from tens of thousands of rupees into lakhs, and it is the stone most traditional texts warn hardest about, because Saturn amplifies whatever it already does in your chart. Strengthen a Saturn that functions as a malefic for your ascendant and the classical literature says you have made things worse, not better.

The rule that prevents this is unglamorous and mechanical: a planet's functional nature depends on which houses it rules from your ascendant, not on whether it is a natural benefic. Venus is a natural benefic and a functional malefic for a Kanya (Virgo) ascendant. Jupiter, the great benefic, functions poorly for Vrishabha (Taurus). Any system that recommends stones without running that check for your specific lagna is guessing with your money.

AskSoma runs that check before any gemstone is mentioned, and refuses the recommendation when the planet is functionally malefic for your ascendant — which, across the twelve ascendants, is most of the time for most planets. It is a feature that mostly says no. A business whose revenue comes from the stone cannot easily ship that feature, which is not a criticism of anyone's integrity so much as an observation about which products can afford which rules.

AstroKaya's Android listing offers experts across Vedic astrology, the Western zodiac and Tarot. Breadth is a genuine convenience if you are shopping for a reading and do not much mind which tradition it comes from.

It is also worth knowing that these systems disagree at the most basic level. Vedic astrology is sidereal — measured against the fixed stars — while Western astrology is tropical, tied to the equinox. They have drifted roughly 24 degrees apart, which is most of a sign: the same birth produces a Sagittarius Sun in one system and a Capricorn Sun in the other, and both are correct within their own frame. Tarot is not astronomy at all.
