The positions shown are sidereal, calculated with the Lahiri ayanamsa — the standard used across Indian panchang. They update daily from live ephemeris data rather than from a fixed table, so the sign and degree shown are the current ones, not an approximation.

Mangal exalts at 28° Capricorn — the highest exaltation degree in the table

Mars owns Aries and Scorpio, and takes its moolatrikona in Aries. Its exaltation is the outlier of the seven: 28° of Capricorn, further into a sign than any other graha’s peak. Only the last two degrees of Capricorn hold a fully exalted Mars, and the fall answers at 28° of Cancer.

That extremity has a practical consequence people miss. A Mars in early Capricorn is in the sign of its exaltation and nowhere near the point of it, so "exalted Mars" without a degree is close to meaningless — the engine scores the distance, not the label.

Seven years of the Vimshottari cycle are Mars’s, tied with Ketu and second-shortest after the Sun, and it averages forty-five days in a sign.

Mrigashira, Chitra and Dhanishta answer to Mars

Mars rules Mrigashira, Chitra and Dhanishta. All three straddle a sign boundary rather than sitting inside one — Mrigashira spans Taurus into Gemini, Chitra Virgo into Libra, Dhanishta Capricorn into Aquarius. Mars is the only lord whose three nakshatras all do this.

The practical effect is that a Mars-dasha birth can carry a Moon in either of two rashis while the clock reads the same, which is one of the commonest sources of two astrologers disagreeing about a chart they have both computed correctly.

Mars is the yogakaraka for Cancer and for Leo

From a Cancer ascendant Mars owns the 5th and the 10th; from a Leo ascendant it owns the 4th and the 9th. Each of those pairs is one trine and one angle, and a graha holding both at once is a yogakaraka — outright the best planet in that chart, whatever its natural reputation.

That reputation is the point. Mars is a natural malefic and it makes no difference at all from these two ascendants, where its gemstone is prescribable and its period is the one people wait for. From Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Capricorn and Aquarius the same planet is graded a functional malefic and the stone is refused in code.
