Best wedding and launch dates 2027

Electional astrology picks a start time whose sky supports what you are starting. The dates below come from one written rule applied the same way to every day of 2027, so you can check any date yourself.

The rule: a date must pass all six tests

  1. Waxing Moon: at least 24 hours after the New Moon and before the Full Moon, so the Moon is growing in light.
  2. Mercury is not retrograde (station to station).
  3. Venus, the planet of love and agreements, is not retrograde and not within 8°30′ of the Sun (combust).
  4. Jupiter, the planet of growth, is not within 8°30′ of the Sun.
  5. No eclipse within 3 calendar days.
  6. The Moon is not void of course at any point from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. US Eastern (it still has an aspect to complete before changing sign).

Days that pass all six are ranked by two bonuses: the Moon in Taurus, Cancer or Libra, and the Moon still due to make a conjunction, sextile or trine to Venus or Jupiter before it goes void. Ties go to the earlier date; up to three dates are shown per month.

January

Ten January dates pass every test.

February

No February date passes every test. What rules the days out: Mercury retrograde (20 days), the waxing-Moon test (15 days), the eclipse buffer (14 days), a void-of-course Moon (13 days).

March

Seven March dates pass every test.

April

Nine April dates pass every test.

May

Nine May dates pass every test.

June

Two June dates pass every test.

July

Six July dates pass every test.

August

No August date passes every test. What rules the days out: Venus within 8°30′ of the Sun (31 days), the waxing-Moon test (17 days), a void-of-course Moon (13 days), Jupiter within 8°30′ of the Sun (12 days), the eclipse buffer (12 days).

September

Three September dates pass every test.

October

Six October dates pass every test.

November

Ten November dates pass every test.

December

Ten December dates pass every test.

Summer is the hard stretch: Venus is within 8°30′ of the Sun from July 11 to September 11 and Jupiter from August 19 to September 11, which is why August has no date that passes and July and September have only a few.

Mars is retrograde until April 1 and Jupiter until April 12. The rule does not exclude those weeks, but if you are launching a business rather than marrying, many astrologers would wait for both to turn direct.

This is the Western layer. Vedic muhurat adds a second one (tithi, nakshatra, yoga and the local Lagna for your city), which you can check for any shortlisted date with the good-timings tool. Check a date with good timings.

How these dates were computed

Every date on this page is computed with Swiss Ephemeris precision, the same engine AskSoma uses for birth charts: apparent geocentric positions in the tropical (Western) zodiac, with each sign change, station and New or Full Moon bisected to the second and rounded to the minute. Eclipse types use the method in Meeus, Astronomical Algorithms, chapter 54.

Times are converted to US Eastern time (EST or EDT as labelled, with the March 14 and November 7, 2027 clock changes applied). If you live elsewhere, the downloadable calendar file carries exact UTC times, so your calendar app shows them in your own time zone.

The void-of-course Moon runs from the Moon’s last exact conjunction, sextile, square, trine or opposition to the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune or Pluto until it enters the next sign. Combustion uses the classical 8°30′ orb.

Automated tests recompute every frozen value against Swiss Ephemeris (lunations within 2 minutes, stations within 5 minutes), so the tables cannot quietly drift. Data computed 2026-10-02.

Frequently asked questions

When is Mercury retrograde in 2027?
Mercury is retrograde three times in 2027: February 9 – March 3 (Pisces → Aquarius), June 10 – July 4 (Cancer → Gemini), October 7–28 (Scorpio → Libra). Counting the shadow periods, the three cycles run January 25 – March 23, May 26 – July 19, September 17 – November 13. Exact station times in US Eastern time are in the table on this page.
When are the full moons in 2027?
There are twelve Full Moons in 2027 (US Eastern dates): Jan 22 (Wolf Moon), Feb 20 (Snow Moon), Mar 22 (Worm Moon), Apr 20 (Pink Moon), May 20 (Flower Moon), Jun 18 (Strawberry Moon), Jul 18 (Buck Moon), Aug 17 (Sturgeon Moon), Sep 15 (Harvest Moon), Oct 15 (Hunter’s Moon), Nov 13 (Beaver Moon), Dec 13 (Cold Moon). The Harvest Moon is the one nearest the September equinox. No month has two Full Moons, so there is no Blue Moon in 2027.
When are the eclipses in 2027?
There are four eclipses: annular solar on February 6, penumbral lunar on February 20, total solar on August 2, penumbral lunar on August 17. The headline is the total solar eclipse of August 2 at 9°55′ Leo, whose path of totality crosses southern Spain, North Africa and the Middle East.
Is Venus retrograde in 2027?
No. Venus moves forward all of 2027; its last retrograde ended in November 2026 and the next begins in May 2028. The Venus event that matters in 2027 is its conjunction with the Sun: Venus is within 8°30′ of the Sun from July 11 to September 11, a stretch traditional electional astrology avoids for weddings.
What are the best wedding dates in 2027 according to astrology?
By the rule on this page (waxing Moon, Mercury direct, Venus and Jupiter clear of the Sun, no eclipse within 3 days, no void-of-course Moon from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. US Eastern), the top-ranked dates are April 8, April 12, April 13, May 16, June 6, July 9, July 10, November 12, November 13 and December 10. February and August have no date that passes every test. Check a shortlisted date against your own chart before you book.
What are the biggest astrology events of 2027?
The August 2 total solar eclipse in Leo; Jupiter entering Virgo on July 26; Saturn in Aries all year (retrograde August 9 – December 23); Mars retrograde January 10 – April 1; three Mercury retrogrades; and no Venus retrograde.
