Checking Manglik from all three references — the house-count, worked

1. The rule: Manglik houses are 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 12 — counted separately FROM the Lagna, FROM the Moon sign, and FROM Venus. A hit from any of the three flags the dosha; the three together grade its weight.
2. Suppose the Lagna is Gemini and Mars is in Sagittarius. Count from Gemini: Gemini(1), Cancer(2), Leo(3), Virgo(4), Libra(5), Scorpio(6), Sagittarius(7). Mars falls in the 7th — Manglik from the Lagna, and the strongest house at that.
3. Now suppose the Moon is in Aries. Count from Aries to Sagittarius: Aries(1) … Sagittarius(9). Mars is in the 9th from the Moon — NOT a Manglik house from the Moon. And say Venus is in Leo: Leo(1) … Sagittarius(5) — the 5th, again not a Manglik house. So the dosha is present from the Lagna only.
4. Finally apply cancellations: if Jupiter aspects that Sagittarius Mars, the benefic tempers it; and if the prospective partner is also Manglik, the mutual-Manglik rule neutralises it. What began as a scary "7th-house Manglik" ends as a mild, well-cushioned one.
