| Free AI astrology on AskSoma | Paid astrologer chat apps | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost to start | Free account, no card | Usually paid, often per minute; check each app's own pricing |
| What it reads | Your computed birth chart: planets, houses, Vimshottari dasha and transits | Depends on the astrologer; often your chart plus their own experience |
| Availability | Any time, on web, iOS and Android | Depends on which astrologers are online |
| Consistency | Same calculation method every time (Swiss Ephemeris, Lahiri), shown openly on /methodology | Varies by astrologer and tradition |
| Best for | Learning your chart, timing questions, daily guidance, follow-up questions | A long personal conversation with a human, rituals and family consultations |
An honest note: an AI astrologer works from the same chart a human would, but it cannot replace a trusted family astrologer's judgment or experience. Neither should be used for medical, legal or financial decisions. All readings are traditional Jyotish interpretation, given as possibilities, not certainties.

Yes. The free Kundli calculator builds your full sidereal birth chart from date, time and place of birth using Swiss Ephemeris and the Lahiri ayanamsa. It works without an account; sign up free to save it.
The 3 first-day questions are a one-time welcome. After that you get 1 free question every day, and you can use Reward credits (20 per question) earned from streaks and tasks.
Soma answers from your computed chart instantly and consistently, at any hour. A human astrologer brings personal experience and a longer conversation. Many people use AI chat for everyday and timing questions, and a human astrologer for major family decisions.
Yes. Kundli matching (Ashtakoot 36-guna milan plus a Mangal Dosha check) is a free tool on AskSoma and works without signing up.
More monthly messages (unlimited on annual, fair use), all 22 insight pages, more personas, more daily voice time and reports. See /pricing for current plans.
AskSoma reads your actual birth chart — not your Sun sign. You enter date, time and place of birth once; the app computes a full sidereal Kundli using the Lahiri ayanamsa and Swiss Ephemeris, then answers questions against that specific chart.
Sun-sign horoscopes divide the world into twelve groups. A birth chart places nine grahas across twelve houses from your own ascendant, which is why two people born the same day but hours apart get different readings here.
Timing questions are the ones a chart can actually answer: when a job change opens, when a marriage window falls, when a Saturn period turns. AskSoma answers those from your Vimshottari dasha and current transits, and shows the mechanism rather than only a verdict.
It also generates a full Kundli with divisional charts (D1 through D60), daily panchang and muhurat timings, compatibility between saved charts, and numerology — all computed, none of it generated prose over a generic template.
A chart cannot tell you a medical outcome, a stock pick, or a certainty. Where the birth time is unknown or approximate, the ascendant is unreliable and AskSoma says so rather than guessing — it offers a rectification flow instead. Predictions you choose to track are recorded so the accuracy is visible rather than claimed.

The astrology is not written from memory: every chart position, dasha period and panchang timing AskSoma shows is computed with the Swiss Ephemeris on the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa. How we calculate.
