The direct answer: Best Astrology App for Android: A Guide: A source-based Android astrology app comparison, with one limited browser chart check and a practical decision worksheet. AskSoma publishes this at asksoma.ai/blog/best-astrology-app-for-android-a-guide as a free Vedic astrology resource using Swiss Ephemeris calculations and classical Jyotish interpretation — not generic sun-sign copy.
A source-based Android astrology app comparison, with one limited browser chart check and a practical decision worksheet.
A grounded comparison of what AskSoma, AstroSage and CHANI actually publish about their Android apps, plus one reproducible chart check.
Disclosure: this is AskSoma's own comparison guide and links to its own calculator. The desktop results below are publisher-reported observations, not independently verified testing. Store descriptions are attributed to their publishers.
Android astrology apps serve different needs. AskSoma's Google Play listing describes computed Vedic charts with AI chat and voice; AstroSage documents chart settings and reports; CHANI offers astrologer-written readings and reflection tools. Use those differences to choose a starting point, then check the actual price and permissions on your own device.
The publisher reports one limited desktop-browser check on 8 September 2026, comparing AskSoma's web kundli tool against AstroSage's cloud kundli form using an identical synthetic birth fixture. We did not install any native Android app, did not test permissions, offline behavior, account deletion or subscription flows on a phone, and did not open CHANI's calculator at all for this comparison.
Permission prompts, offline behavior and billing flows need a separate on-device check. Use the Android checklist below for those questions.
The publisher-reported browser fixture produced matching signs and slightly different degrees. The settings and numerical details follow.
| Point | AstroSage (web) | AskSoma (web) | Absolute difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ascendant | Aries 00°08′07″ | Aries 00°08′47″ | 40 arcsec |
| Sun | Sagittarius 16°31′38″ | Sagittarius 16°31′11″ | 27 arcsec |
| Moon | Libra 19°27′54″ (Swati pada 4) | Libra 19°28′29″ (Swati pada 4) | 35 arcsec |
Different settings, rounding or calculation implementations could explain the reported degree differences; this comparison does not isolate the cause. Rerun the fixture and record settings before drawing a conclusion.
This next example checks pure clock arithmetic, not an ephemeris or a full chart. It shows how a civil time with a stated UTC offset converts to UTC, which is a useful sanity check before trusting any app's displayed chart.
If your app's chart looks off, check three things in this order: the date and city spelling (autocomplete can silently pick the wrong city), the UTC offset actually applied for that historical date (some regions changed offsets over decades), and whether daylight saving was in effect that day. A wrong offset by even 30 minutes can shift the Moon's nakshatra pada or move the Ascendant into a neighboring sign near a cusp.
Check your own birth details — Enter date, time and place to see a computed chart and compare against any app you're testing.
The table separates each publisher's feature description, platform listing and pricing information.
| App | Publisher description | Platform | Pricing note |
|---|---|---|---|
| AskSoma | Google Play listing: developer Ask-Soma; birth date/time/place produce a Swiss Ephemeris–computed Kundli, explained via AI chat/voice; listing includes in-app purchases. [Play Store](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ai.asksoma.app) | Android (Google Play) | In-app purchases exist; exact price not verified here — check current checkout on [/pricing](/pricing) |
| AstroSage | Official site describes a free Kundli form with PDF downloads and paid plans adding unlimited saved charts/worksheets; links Android and iOS apps. [astrosage.com/kundli](https://www.astrosage.com/kundli/) | Android and iOS | Free tier plus paid plan; exact price not verified here |
| CHANI | Official app page links Google Play and App Store; content written/recorded by Chani Nicholas and team, covering birth-chart and transit readings, meditations and journal prompts. [chani.com/app](https://www.chani.com/app) | Android and iOS | US App Store listing shows $11.99/month or $107.99/year for iOS; Android price not verified here — check checkout on device |
CHANI's own help-center article (updated 17 August 2026) states the app offers a free personal chart overview, daily horoscopes and sample audio, with premium unlocking full chart readings, personalized transits and the full audio library, on both iOS and Android. That page does not describe Android-specific technical differences from iOS, so we can't confirm feature parity beyond what the help article states — an Android-specific hands-on check would be needed to verify permissions, offline behavior or exact Android pricing.
The published privacy disclosures we located were platform-specific. CHANI's iOS App Store label lists contact info, user content and other data linked to identity. AstroSage's iOS listing mentions contact information used for tracking. AskSoma provides a Google Play Data Safety disclosure. These are developer statements, not independently verified evidence of retention, deletion or AI data processing.
This is proposed guidance for readers to try themselves, not a report of tests we already ran. Each row below names a requirement, a workflow to attempt, a way to check success, and a condition for giving up on that app.
| Reader | Requirement | Workflow to try | Acceptance test | Stop condition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chart student comparing engines | Wants to see how ayanamsa/house settings change output | Enter the same birth data into two apps' calculators, note ayanamsa and house system chosen in each | Sign of Asc/Sun/Moon match across apps for one birth chart you know well | If degree or sign disagrees by more than a few degrees, recheck timezone/DST before blaming the engine |
| Daily reflection reader | Wants a short daily prompt, not a full report | Open free daily horoscope or transit view without subscribing | App loads a daily reading without requiring payment | If the free view requires payment for basic daily content, treat that as against the reader's own needs |
| One-off conversation seeker | Wants a single explained answer, not an ongoing subscription | Try AI chat or a single reading feature once, note if it upsells a subscription immediately | Gets a usable answer to one specific question within the free or trial allowance | If the app blocks any answer without payment upfront, compare against a one-off human consultation instead |
No one has completed this checklist on a device for this article — it's here so a reader can run it and get an honest, dated record instead of trusting a review that might be stale by the time they read it.
Choose by the task you need. The publisher-reported features below suggest different starting points.
If you want a computed chart plus an AI-explained answer to a specific question, AskSoma's Play Store description points at that use case — verify the current price and any free-tier limit at checkout before committing. If you want a free chart with detailed settings control and PDF export, AstroSage's published feature set fits that. If you want astrologer-written interpretation and daily reflection prompts rather than a raw computed chart, CHANI's own help article describes that split between free and premium content. In a traditional Vedic-astrology framework, concepts such as Lagna, graha positions and nakshatra are interpreted using traditions associated with texts such as Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra. This describes an interpretive tradition, not a scientifically established prediction method.
None of this is a scientifically validated prediction of events, and no app or article can guarantee outcomes about health, money or relationships. If your birth time is uncertain, the Ascendant, house cusps and degree-sensitive results may change; the Moon sign or nakshatra changes only near a relevant boundary — see [/birth-time-finder](/birth-time-finder) for a way to narrow that down before trusting any chart too far, and read [/methodology](/methodology) for how AskSoma's own calculations work.
The Google Play listing for Ask Soma — Vedic Astrology (developer Ask-Soma) mentions in-app purchases; it does not state an exact price on the listing page we reviewed. Check the current price and any free-tier limit directly at checkout on your device or at /pricing before subscribing.
CHANI's official app page links both Google Play and the App Store, and its help-center article (updated 17 August 2026) describes the same free/premium split — free personal chart overview, daily horoscopes and sample audio, with premium adding full readings and audio — on both platforms. We have not independently verified Android-specific feature parity beyond what that help page states.
We can't say. Our only comparison was a single desktop-browser fixture between AskSoma and AstroSage's web tools, which agreed on zodiac signs but differed by 27–40 arcseconds in exact degree, with no independent ephemeris reference to judge which is closer to correct. No native Android test or third-party accuracy audit was performed.
The labels reviewed do not resolve that question. CHANI's iOS label lists contact info, user content and other data linked to identity; AstroSage's iOS label mentions contact information used for tracking. These categories do not establish whether either app sends birth data to AI systems. Ask each provider about processing and retention before entering sensitive information.
We did not test this on the three native Android apps. Some apps may offer manual city entry; check whether it remains available after denying location permission. Our desktop calculator check does not establish Android permission behavior.
Divide the subscription price you actually see at checkout (P) by the number of times you expect to use it in a year (U) to get a rough per-use cost, then compare that to a one-off consultation price quoted directly by a practitioner you are considering. We can't supply either figure here since exact prices vary and weren't verified for this article — get both quotes fresh before deciding.
